Alison is an Alabama native and attended Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama where she received a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies and a Master of Education in Community Counseling. Alison began her counseling career in adolescent residential treatment in 2001 as she simultaneously earned her National Counseling Certificate and received her licensure in professional counseling. As a former LPC, Alison practiced counseling for seven years before the birth of her son after which she remained home. Following her time as a primary caregiver, Alison ventured into the realm of tutoring and education, beginning with two years as a reading recovery tutor and then transitioning to full- time teaching as a middle and high school humanities educator for five years. Alison places great value in combining her counseling and education experience into training others to be both trauma-aware and trauma-responsive.
